Welcome to the Lochluichart Wind Farm site
At the end of March 2010, Eneco purchased LZN Limited and the rights to develop a 51MW wind farm on the Lochluichart Estate in the Scottish Highlands. The project gained Section 36 consent in December 2008 subject to certain planning conditions.
The project comprises 17 turbines with a nominal capacity of 51MW, which is equivalent to the supply of electricity for up to 28,500 households. It is anticipated that the wind farm will be fully operational by 2013.
Over the 25 year lifetime of the wind farm it is estimated that over 1,400,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, 33,000 tonnes of sulphur dioxide and 10,000 tonnes of nitrogen oxide will be saved compared to a mix of national grid electricity generation sources.
Eneco has a commitment to fund local initiatives by sharing in the success of the wind farm through a community scheme and wherever possible, working with local businesses and contractors. This will provide the local community with a fund of £2750 per MW installed on the wind farm.
